10 Days of Giving – Day 7
Ava Quijano-Edwards is a 14-year-old girl from Dickinson, ND who was recently diagnosed with Diffuse Astrocytic Glioma brain cancer in October. She has spent the last 5 weeks at Mayo Clinic receiving radiation treatment and was able to ring the bell on Friday, December 10th. We were able to connect with Ava and her family via zoom last week and we are grateful we were blessed to meet in person on their way home to be reunited as a family. Ava is in the 9th grade and loves computers, painting, softball, and Starbucks. She is kind-hearted and the sweetest girl. Ava has shown incredible resiliency with each new challenge throughout this unimaginable journey.
Ava has one older sister, Isabela (20) and a twin sister Ana (14). It has been extremely hard for this dynamic duo to be separated during Ava’s treatment. Ava’s parents, Chad and Sasha, have been with Ava and by her side every day since her diagnosis. They are highly dedicated to ensuring she receives the best possible care and outcome. They are navigating Ava’s diagnosis with a great deal of strength, resiliency, and faith.
Ava’s Day of Giving included an iPad and all the necessary accessories. One of Santa’s elves let us know that Ava had been hoping for a new computer for Christmas. The iPad will provide a great deal of flexibility and portability for Ava. This amazing group of volunteers also arranged for Ava and the special ladies in her life to have a day of pampering, including mani-pedi’s etc. at the Beauty Bar Salon and Day Spa.
A special Thank You to the incredible team of volunteers that worked their magic to make Ava’s Day of Giving personalized, fun and meaningful: Emily Haen, Melissa Hanson, Laura Lutkemeier, and Jennifer Wentz. A BIG Thank You to the Beauty Bar Salon and Day Spa in Dickinson for your generosity and making Ava’s give extra special! Please join us in praying for Ava and her family as they continue to navigate her cancer journey and fight this courageous battle. We are also wishing Ava and Ana a very Happy Birthday at the end of this month. We are so excited they will be celebrating together! Stay Strong Ava, Landon’s Light continues to shine on you!
