Meet Cassius!
Cassius is one resilient, animated and loving young boy. At a very young age, he was diagnosed with Moyamoya disease, a rare blood vessel disorder where the carotid artery in the skull becomes blocked or narrowed. This rare condition may cause various strokes to occur, among other cognitive disabilities.
Cassius has faced numerous surgeries to place bypasses to provide more blood flow to the brain. Over time, these bypasses either do not take or work, causing more uncertainty in the treatment plan for this sweet boy and his family. As his family shared, his body is not keeping up with the progression of his disease and while he may be currently receiving blood flow, it is not enough to fully function.
Because of the complexities of Cassius’s health, his family is searching for answers from other medical facilities, hoping they can get into a specialized program for Moyamoya Disease.
