Meet Lucas!

Lucas is a one-of-a-kind 18-year-old. A little over a year ago, he had complained of multiple symptoms. He went to the doctor on 12 different occasions when finally last Halloween, he went to the walk-in clinic for shoulder pain and discussed how Lucas had been diagnosed with mono a month earlier, but his lymph nodes were still very large.

Lucas goes to the gym almost every day, so previous doctors had dismissed the pain or sent him to physical therapy.  This doctor said that with the type of pain Lucas had indicated, there could be something in the bone. He was right. When they got Lucas โ€˜s scans back, they found he had stage 4 Hodgkin Lymphoma which meant the cancer was spread throughout his upper and lower body, including in his bones. Within about a week, Lucas had surgery to have his port implanted to start chemo treatments and had his first round of medicine through Roger Maris Cancer Center.

His chemo is a fairly new regimen to Roger Marris and will hopefully allow Lucas to have chemo only and no radiation. Since a bulk of his tumors were surrounding his heart, they prefer not to radiate. Lucas recently completed his chemo treatments and will undergo his next PET scan. Lucas never complains about how he is feeling and the only way his family knows if heโ€™s having a bad day is if he skips the gym. ๐Ÿ™‚

Lucas is an extremely talented musician, but even more, he is a wonderful son, brother and friend. Please keep Lucas and his family in your prayers.
