Meet Gordie!

Gordie’s journey began January 2024 when he started complaining of pain in his tummy, which at the time was a little distended. His parents, Jensen and Mark, took him to the doctor 5 times that January where his discomfort was repeatedly misdiagnosed as constipation. After finally pushing for a CT scan, the doctors discovered a large abdominal tumor on February 2nd, just a few days after his 2nd birthday. Within a week, Gordie had 3 surgeries and started chemotherapy before his cancer was officially confirmed as High-Risk Metastatic Neuroblastoma, which originated on his adrenal gland above his left kidney.

Gordie’s initial hospitalization lasted from February 2nd until April 5th when he was finally stable enough to come home. Gordie has undergone 5 rounds of chemotherapy, major resection surgery to remove the main tumor, a double stem cell transplant at the Mayo Clinic, and 12 rounds of radiation. During his time at Mayo this summer, when he was going through his stem cell transplant, Gordie’s family experienced great joy when they welcomed his little brother, Roscoe, into this world.

Currently, he is in the last leg of neuroblastoma treatment: Immunotherapy. He has completed 2 of 5 rounds and is one resilient boy. Gordie was officially declared as being in remission in October 2024. At just 2 years old, Gordie is an avid outdoorsman. His doctors have taken to calling him by his preferred name, Captain Gordie. He loves spending time on the boat fishing.

We were so blessed to shine Landon’s Light onto Captain Gordie with his fishing themed Miracle Moment. Please keep this beautiful boy and his family in your prayers.
