Meet, Colby! This courageous young boy has been waiting patiently for his Miracle Moment and we could not have been more excited to finally serve him and his family with a Minnesota Vikings Experience.
After a short illness in January 2023, Colby was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. His treatment consisted of multiple cycles of inpatient chemotherapy treatment at Sanford Children’s in Fargo for 4 months. Colby experienced numerous complications with each cycle that extended each cycle multiple days or weeks.
During the 3rd cycle of treatment, Colby had a severe reaction to the chemo leading to an ICU stay. This reaction put an abrupt stop to chemo and led Colby down the path of needing a bone marrow transplant to achieve remission of Leukemia. In August 2023, his family relocated to Minneapolis to continue treatment at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s hospital.
On August 21st, 2023, he received his bone marrow transplant. Colby and his family remained in the cities for an additional 4 months for post transplant care in and out of the hospital setting. He is now coming up on his 1-year post transplant anniversary and doing well! All biopsies and studies so far have shown he is remission from the Leukemia.
Colby has been able to start doing more kid things again, especially with his big brother, Zach! There is definitely a special bond between these two boys and you could feel the joy their family is experiencing with Colby continuing his journey with faith and strength. While Colby is enjoying all the fun that summer has to offer, he is excited to begin 3rd grade this fall. Please keep Colby in your prayers for continue to monitor his system for any transplant complications.
