Meet Michael.
On February 25, 2025, King Michael, aka “Mekong”, was diagnosed with B Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a serious cancer that affects his blood and bone marrow. Two days after getting the diagnosis, he started chemotherapy.
He has been following a chemotherapy treatment plan ever since. Mekong is also participating in physical and occupational therapy to improve his motor skills to support his recovery. During his treatment, Mekong has experienced some shaking and occasional fevers, which led to four hospital stays. His family always stays with him during these times to provide the comfort and support he needs to recover and return home.
Recently, a tumor was discovered on his brain, and he underwent surgery to remove the tumor. After being tested, it was discovered this tumor was non-malignant and made up of dead cancer cells. This news has given hope to Mekong and his family. Despite all the challenges he has faced, Mekong stays strong and shows his grumpy side, which his family finds endearing, offering a little piece of “normal” in his world. Mekong has gained weight and seems happier and more playful, which is encouraging.
Please keep Mekong and his family in your prayers as they continue fighting on his journey to remission.
